GAZA: KILLING CIVILIANS IN WAR
IS UTTERLY FORBIDDEN
Quran-e-hakim.net condemns the killing of
our Palestinian Muslim brothers and sisters in Gaza and the West Bank and
reminds the Israelis of the warnings from the Prophet Muhammad (sall-Allahu
alayhi wa-sallam - may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbidding
the killing of women and children in war.
There are various authentic reports from
Rasoolullah (sall-Allahu alayhi wa-sallam - may the blessings and peace of
Allah be upon him) in which he explicitly forbade the killing of women and
children and indeed the killing of all civilians is forbidden in Islam.
The
following two authentic ahadith are from Sahih Muslim. The translations are
from the ‘English translation of Sahih Muslim’, Volume 5, published by
Darussalam in their first edition of August 2007.
Both ahadith appear on Page 26 of Volume 5
under the heading ‘Chapter 8. The Prohibition Of Killing Women And Children In
War’ in The Book of Jihad and Expeditions.
Hadith No. [4547] 24 – (1744) reads: “It
was narrated from ‘Abdullah that a woman was found slain during one of the
campaigns of the Messenger of Allah (sall-Allahu alayhi wa-sallam - may the
blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah
(sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam - may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon
him) denounced the killing of women and children.”
Hadith No. [4548] 25 – (…)
reads: “It was narrated that ibn ‘Umar said: A woman was found slain in one of
those campaigns, and the Messenger of Allah (sall-Allahu alayhi wa-sallam - may
the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade killing women and
children.”
Israel, have you so quickly forgotten the
lessons of the past? Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala - Glory be to Him, the Most
High) hasn't. He forgets nothing! You had better hope He turns to you with
forgiveness and mercy, because if He doesn't then Insha'-Allah you run the risk
of learning those lessons all over again.
Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala - Glory be to
Him, the Most High) hates those who walk upon the earth with arrogance and
pride. No-one is safe from Him and if He turns upon someone with hatred and
rage there is no escape.
You spurn Allah's beloved Rasoolullah
(sall-Allahu alayhi wa-sallam - may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon
him), reject the Qur'an, the word of God, and make a mockery of the teachings
of Islam. Do you really believe you are safe from Him?
If you do, then reflect upon the fate of a
man who took another of Allah's beloved Prophets and Messengers (alayhim
as-salam - may the peace of Allah be upon them) for sport and then paid a
terrible price for doing so.
The following quotes are from the English
translation of Tafsir Ibn Kathir, (Abridged) Volume 6, the second edition
published in July 2003 by Darussalam - Surah Al-Anbiya, Ayat 68-70. Aside from
changes to the punctuation and paragraphing the quotes are verbatim.
“68. They said: ‘Burn him and help your
gods, if you will be doing.’
“69. We said: ‘O fire! Be you cool and
safety for Ibrahim!’
“70. And they wanted to harm him, but We
made them the worst losers.
“How Ibrahim was thrown into the Fire and
how Allah controlled it
“When their arguments were refuted and
their incapability became clear, when truth was made manifest and falsehood was
defeated, they resorted to using their power and strength, and said: ‘Burn him
and help your gods, if you will be doing’.
“So, they gathered together a huge amount
of wood. As-Suddi said: ‘I if a woman was sick, she would make a vow that if
she recovered she would bring wood to burn Ibrahim. Then they made a hole in
the ground and set it aflame, and it burned with huge sparks and immense
flames. There had never been a fire like it.
“They put Ibrahim, peace be upon him, into
a catapult, at the suggestion of a nomadic Kurdish man from Persia. Shu`ayb
Al-Jaba'i said: ‘His name was Hayzan, and Allah caused the earth to swallow him
up, and he will remain sinking into it until the Day of Resurrection. When they
threw him he said: ‘Sufficient for me is Allah, and He is the best disposer of
affairs’. This is similar to what Al-Bukhari recorded from Ibn `Abbas that
Ibrahim said: ‘Sufficient for me is Allah, and He is the best disposer of affairs,’
when he was thrown into the fire, and Muhammad said it when they said: “Verily,
the people have gathered against you, therefore, fear them. But it increased
them in faith, and they said: ‘Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best
disposer of affairs’. (3:173)”
The quotes from the translation of Tafsir Ibn Kathir end.
Oh Israel, heed the warning of how Allah caused
the earth to swallow up Hayzan and “he will remain sinking into it until the
Day of Resurrection if it pleases Allah”. I do not doubt that he is still
sinking.
